Judy Dockendorf was an influential teacher/coach of women’s soccer, volleyball, basketball and softball at Washburn in the 1970s and 1980s.
Many of Judy’s Washburn students and players credit her for the guidance and support she gave them, guidance and support that encouraged them to graduate from high school and go on to successful lives.
Teaching health and physical education in the Minneapolis School District for most of her thirty-one teaching career, Judy taught at Washburn from 1978 through 1982. She coached soccer, volleyball, basketball and softball at Washburn from the mid-1970s through 1986.
During her career in coaching, her teams participated in six Minnesota state tournaments, four in basketball and two in volleyball.
After coaching at Washburn, Judy coached basketball at Robbinsdale Armstrong for several years and then returned to the Minneapolis schools in 1990 where she taught, coached and was athletic director at Minneapolis Edison as well as being the Dean of Students for three years.
After retiring from teaching in 2000, Judy was active with the Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance.
