Academics

Gerry Clark (class of 1964) is one of Washburn's all-time greats. He played football, basketball and baseball, winning NINE letters in the process. Gerry's teams enjoyed remarkable success, and he was a key factor in that success. He was also Senior Class President, Friendship King for three years, Boys State Representative, Scholar Athlete Award Winner and voted Best All Around by his senior class.

Football: While winning the Twin City Championship 63-0 over St. Paul Wilson, Washburn was voted the number one team in the State in 1962. Gerry was the starting halfback and safety and won All-City honors that year. In the Fall of his senior year, 1963, he was Captain and led his team to a 7-1 record and second place in the City.

Basketball: Gerry was a starting guard for all three years of his carrier at Washburn and was named to the All District team as a senior. He led his team to a 8-2 record and second place finish in the City.

Baseball: Washburn won the State Championship against Hibbing in Gerry's junior year. During the three games of the State Championship playoffs, he led the team in batting average and runs scored. He was the starting shortstop for all three years and led his team in home runs his senior year.
